Ajahn Sumedho said that he was directly influenced by Edward Salim Michael's book : The way of inner vigilance (republished in 2010 with the new title : the Law of attention, Nada Yoga and the way of inner vigilance" and for which Ajahn Sumedho wrote a preface).
As of the 2006 Vassa, her 10th "rain" (a traditional Pali term for the annual three-month retreat during rainy season) after taking higher ordination, she is eligible to be called Ajahn, the Thai veneration for senior monastics who teach.
Subsequent abbots have been Ajahn Ānando (1984–1992) and Ajahn Sucitto (1992- ).
In the spring of 1990 the Italian Bhikkhu Ajahn Thanavaro (later Mario Thanavaro) and then Anagarika John Angelori were sent by Ajahn Sumedho to take up residence in a small house outside the village of Sezze-Romano south of Rome.
Ajahn Sucitto was asked, by Ajahn Sumedho to train the nuns, which he did 1984-1991.
