Alan Donnelly (born 16 July 1957) is a British politician and former trade unionist from Jarrow who served as a Labour Member of the European Parliament and leader of the European Parliamentary Labour Party.

Donnelly was first elected to the European Parliament in 1989, representing the Tyne and Wear constituency .
However, in December 1999 it was surprisingly announced that Alan Donnelly was resigning his seat in the European Parliament.
His staff included former Labour ministers Nick Brown and Doug Henderson, and former MEP and Labour leader in the European parliament Alan Donnelly.
