After moving to Auckland, New Zealand, Alan was a member of the Dribbling Darts of Love before joining The Mutton Birds, which he was part of from 1992-1998 (and again, returning for live shows, in 2001).
Meltdown released 10 records in a 4-year period including an EP by The Remarkables and an album by Three Leaning Men titled Fun in the Key of E, both early bands of New Zealand musician Alan Gregg.
