In 2010, Governor of Oklahoma Brad Henry appointed Pettit as the State's first Chief Information Officer.
The current OMES Director is Preston Doerflinger, who was appointed by Governor Mary Fallin in 2011, and the current Chief Information Officer is Alex Pettit, appointed by Governor Brad Henry in 2010 and retained by Governor Fallin in 2011.
