Turvey's creative influences came from Russian Constructivist concepts (most notably the work of Alexander Rodchenko and more recently the extensive and innovative high-speed and stroboscopic photographic studies by Dr Harold E Edgerton.
El Lissitzky and Sophie Lissitzky-Küppers designed the overall layout and cover arrangements for a number of issues, as did Alexander Rodchenko and his wife, Varvara Stepanova.

In 1921, together with Alexander Rodchenko and his wife Varvara Stepanova, Gan formed the first Working Group of Constructivists, which rejected fine art in favour of graphic design, photography, posters, and political propaganda.
The museum collection compiles masterpieces of the Russian photo art, including works by Alexander Grinberg, Max Penson, Alexander Rodchenko and Dmitri Baltermants.
