The Cultural Heritage Centre's Director is Dr Colin Long, with distinguished Centre staff including Professor William Logan, UNESCO Chair in Heritage and Urbanism and Alfred Deakin Professor.

William Chaffey

Alfred Deakin, then a minister in the Victorian government and chairman of a royal commission on water supply, visited the irrigation areas of California in 1885 where he met George and William Chaffey.


Archibald Stewart

He helped found the Ballarat branch of the Labor Party in 1902 and was its secretary from 1905 to 1906; he was involved in James Scullin's ultimately unsuccessful attempt to unseat Alfred Deakin at the 1906 federal election.

Arthur Patchett Martin
