On March 30, 2005, Kelowna Flightcraft was awarded a $1.77 billion contract to lead a team of Canadian companies called Allied Wings to provide primary flight training for the Canadian Forces Air Command at Southport at the former CFB Base Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
The Canadian Wings Aviation Training Centre operation of Allied Wings is based at the airport.
