Allstedt

It is situated approximatively 10 km southeast of Sangerhausen.

Blankenheim

Blankenheim, Saxony-Anhalt, a municipality in eastern Germany, part of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Allstedt-Kaltenborn.

Helme

From there the Helme – now in the state of Saxony-Anhalt – continues eastwards flowing through Roßla towards Allstedt, where it then swings south and enters Thuringia again.

The biosphere reserve has an area of 30,034 hectares and lies in the county of Mansfeld-Südharz on the territory of the towns of Allstedt and Sangerhausen and the municipalities of Berga, Südharz and Wallhausen.
