Attempts after the war to revive Sloper proved short-lived, as Sloper was a somewhat stereotypical Victorian and Edwardian type, and did not fit into the new post-war world.

Early in 1915 he joined up as a Private serving in the Army Service Corps, ASC, “Ally Sloper's Cavalry”, 3rd Heavy Repair Depot in A.S.C. Motor Transport and became later Captain.
As co-creator of Ally Sloper with her husband Charles Henry Ross, Tessier was one of the first female cartoonists in Europe, and one of four female contributors to the British satirical magazine Fun edited by Ross.
