In 1985, she purchased her Spanish Andalusian stallion, Dulcero, from the van der Drift family in Qld and was influential in the re-formation of the then defunct Western Australian Branch of the Andalusian Horse Association of Australasia.
He sold the company in 1994 and retired to his ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley where he bred champion Andalusian horses.
A crucial character to the story is Brady's horse, a black Andalusian stallion named Lágrimas ("tears").
He decided upon Andalusian horses after seeing them at an equestrian show in London, and subsequently travelled to Jerez de la Frontera, Spain and in September 1971 bought the stallion "Bodeguero" and five purebred mares.

The Paso Fino is a blend of the Barb, Spanish Jennet, and Andalusian horse and was bred by Spanish land owners in Puerto Rico and Colombia to be used in the plantations because of their endurance and comfortable ride.
The organization also governs breed shows held in the United States for the Andalusian, Lusitano, Arabian, half-Arabian, Anglo-Arabian, Connemara, Friesian, Hackney, Morgan, American Saddlebred, National Show Horse, Paso Fino, Shetland, and Welsh breeds.
