Dr. Laurencin is a member of both the Institutes of Medicine and the National Academies of Engineering (a distinction he shares with chemical engineers Kristi Anseth, Robert S. Langer, Nicholas Peppas, Frances Arnold, and Rakesh K. Jain).
Jain was a co-recipient of the Oliver E. Buckley Prize of the American Physical Society in 2002, along with Nicholas Read and Robert Willet.
Then it was a chance meeting with writer Mulk Raj Anand in the 1970s, that inspired him to work for art and cultural heritage conservation.
At Harvard Business School, he was a recipient of the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship and the Dean's Award.
