The Antarctica Service Medal (ASM) was established by the United States Congress on July 7, 1960 under Public Law 600 of the 86th Congress.
Martin received the Antarctica Service Medal for courage, devotion and sacrifice from President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1967.
From 1997 to 2000 Wu used to receive numerous artists and writers grants from the National Science Foundation and by 2000 was awarded Antarctica Service Medal from the United States for his research there.
