Beginning in 1989 and continuing to the present, he has published reviews and articles for Art in America and ARTnews magazines.
His writing has published in Art in America, Artnews, ArtReview, The Art Newspaper, Frieze and the New York Press (for which he was the weekly art critic between 1998 and 2003).
He has served as Executive Editor for Art in America magazine, as contributing editor to The Village Voice, as Staff Songwriter for Glaser Publications in Nashville and as Arts Editor for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
She has also written monographs of Jackson Pollock and Esteban Vicente as well as numerous articles on literature, art, and literary and art criticism in such publications as the New York Times Book Review, New York Times Magazine, The Nation, Art in America, Partisan Review, New York Arts Journal, Salmagundi, Journal of Modern Literature, and ARTnews.
In a 1994 review in Art in America, Robert Kushner wrote that “underneath the composure of their execution, there is an almost romantic vividness of experience. The contrast of this veiled undercurrent and the Apollonian restraint of the presentation make these new paintings both powerful and poignant.”
Jeppesen's critical writings on art, film, and literature have appeared in Artforum, Art in America, Texte zur Kunst, Flash Art, New York Press, Bookforum, The Stranger, and Zoo Magazine.
The legal status of derivative fan made art in America may be tricky due to the vagaries of the United States Copyright Act.
In 1962 Hefferton's work was included, along with Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Jim Dine, Robert Dowd, Joe Goode, Edward Ruscha, and Wayne Thiebaud, in the exhibition New Painting of Common Objects, curated by Walter Hopps at the Pasadena Art Museum, the first museum survey of pop art in America.
