In 2002, McPartlin was temporarily banned from driving after being caught speeding at 127 mph through County Durham in his Audi TT.
In 2004 he competed in the BRSCC Super Silhouette Championship, driving an Audi TT.
The prize was advertised as a new car, a choice of a “cool” Mercedes-Benz C-series sedan, a “hot” Audi TT convertible or a “green” Toyota Prius.
