During his degree at Staffordshire University, Stoke-on-Trent, Jamie was freelancing at Dee 106.3 in Chester, Brmb in Birmingham, Heart 100.7 in Birmingham and Heart Radio in North Wales and Cheshire.
After 26 years, on Friday 27 September 2002, Les presented his final BRMB Breakfast show, live from Birmingham International Station.
Since then, Day has been heard on many commercial stations throughout the UK including Manchester's Piccadilly Radio, Birmingham's BRMB, Radio West in Bristol, Invicta Radio/Invicta Supergold in Kent, Pirate FM in Cornwall, Jazz FM in London, County Sound in Surrey, Amber Radio in Suffolk and Fusion 107.3 in London.
These included Les Ross (who made his name locally with a long running breakfast show on BRMB), David Hamilton, Tony Brandon, Mike Wyer, Tony Lyman, John Darvall, Mick Wright, Jeff Harris, Roger Day, Andy Holmes, Mike Baker, Mike Hollis, Andy Marriott, Bev Bevan, Tom Clarke-Hill, Pete Johnson, Adrian Jackson, Chris Rolinson and Sheila Tracy.
The programming came from the BRMB studios based in Aston, Birmingham, and the signal was relayed from the Langley Mill transmitter (Birmingham) and Shilton (Coventry).
