On 27 June 1993, Hogefeld and Grams arrived at a train station in Bad Kleinen where a group of GSG 9 officers were waiting to arrest them (the officers had received a tip-off from a fellow GSG 9 officer who had infiltrated the RAF).
In 1994 Žáček exhibited a series of paintings at the Behémot Gallery in Prague that were inspired by events that had occurred in 1993 in Bad Kleinen.
On 10 March 1846 the Company received a concession to build a railway from Hagenow via Schwerin to Wismar as well as from Bad Kleinen via Bützow to Rostock and Güstrow.
During a joint operation in Bad Kleinen by GSG 9, the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and the Federal Border Police (Bundes- Grenzschutz, BGS) to arrest Red Army Faction members Wolfgang Grams and Birgit Hogefeld he was shot by Grams who later died from his wounds as well.
On 27 June 1993, in a German Police raid in the train station of the mecklenburgian town of Bad Kleinen, both the wanted terrorist of the Red Army Faction (RAF), Wolfgang Grams, and a GSG 9 agent, Michael Newrzella, lost their lives.
