Gaelic football is played at Glack GAC which encompasses players from Ballykelly and the Glack area.

RAF Station Ballykelly opened in 1941 as an airfield RAF Coastal Command and closed in 1971, because of the British Government's defence cuts.
April 1959 saw Eglington close and the Squadrons moved to Derry and Ballykelly.
Some days later French President Charles de Gaulle visited Ballykelly to personally award medals to members of the crew.
