D'Arcy was one of the original shareholders and directors of the Bank of New South Wales formed at the end of 1816.
On 21 November 1940, the Widgee Shire Council moved into new premises formerly occupied by the Bank of New South Wales at 242 Mary Street, Gympie.

He became heavily involved in business and finance, becoming managing director for Dalgety & Co. in 1901; chairman of directors of Millars Karri and Jarrah Co.; chairman of Bovril Australian Estates; director of the Bank of New South Wales; director of Commercial Union Insurance; and director of the WA Bank.
She worked for the Bank of New South Wales (since 1982 the Westpac Banking Corporation) from 1958-64.
In 1982 the Bank of New South Wales changed its name to the Westpac Banking Corporation, in 1996 the building was occupied by Challenge Bank and from 2000 the Bendigo Bank.
