Birdsall, North Yorkshire

The present church was built in 1824 at the expense of Henry Willoughby, 6th Baron Middleton.

Thomas Willoughby (1694–1742), brother of Francis Willoughby, 2nd Baron Middleton, married Elizabeth Sotheby of Birdsall, and their son Henry inherited the barony and Willoughby estates in Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire from his cousin in 1781.


Middleton, Warwickshire

The title of Baron Middleton, of Middleton in the County of Warwick, was created in 1711 by Queen Anne as a hereditary barony in the Peerage of Great Britain for Thomas Willoughby, 2nd Baronet, of Wollaton in the County of Nottingham (1670–1729).
