Along the road, landmarks include (from west to east) Upper Serangoon Viaduct, Maris Stella High School, Bartley MRT Station, Bartley Christian Church, SPCA Singapore, Bartley Secondary School, Kim Chuan Depot, Paya Lebar Air Base and Bedok Reservoir Park.
There were two sections: the Muslim section was at the base of Mount Vernon, bounded by Upper Aljunied Road, Upper Serangoon Road, and Bartley Road; the Christian section was across Upper Aljunied Road from the Muslim section, and bounded by Upper Serangoon Road as well.

This station is being built in tandem with the Outer Ring Road System project which consists of extending Bartley Road to Eunos Road via a viaduct over the part of the underground site of the Kim Chuan Depot.
