Pacita Abad (September 5, 1946 – December 7, 2004) was born in Basco, Batanes, a small island in the northernmost part of the Philippines, between Luzon and Taiwan.

In 1982, Best acquired catalog competitors: Basco, a chain with 19 catalog showrooms in the Northeast and Ohio; and Modern Merchandising, headquartered in Minnetonka, Minnesota with 76 showroom under the names LaBelle's, Dolgin's, Jafco, Miller Sales, Rogers and Great Western.
It is the only airport serving Itbayat Island and one of two airports in the Batanes Islands chain, the other being Basco Airport in the provincial capital, Basco.
The Fundacion Pacita Batanes Nature Lodge in Basco, Batanes, "was lovingly refurbished by her brother", Butch Abad.
Members include Clem Castro (formerly of Orange and Lemons, now The Camerawalls) on guitars, Francis Reyes (formerly of The Dawn) also on guitars, Carlos Calderon (Chicosci) on bass, Jazz Nicolas (Itchyworms) on drums and Uela Basco (Chilitees), Katwo Librando (Narda/Duster) and Raimund Marasigan on vocals.
