Chelosin

On September 25, 1911, the ship was taken out for its first trial run on Belfast Lough, and a speed of 14 knots was recorded over the measured mile with no vibration.

MS Stena Feronia

On 7 March 2012 the Stena Feronia collided with a cargo ship in Belfast Lough.

Short Sealand

The prototype Sealand was launched on 19 January 1948 and flew 3 days later from the waters of Belfast Lough, piloted by Shorts' Chief Test Pilot, Harold Piper.


North Channel Naval Duel

Following an unsuccessful attempt to raid the port of Whitehaven in Cumberland, on the night of 17–18 April, he harassed shipping in the North Channel, then on the night of 20–21 April Ranger entered Belfast Lough in northern Ireland, with the intention of seizing a Royal Navy ship moored off Carrickfergus, HMS Drake.
