A forceful and compelling speaker, Arnett was influential in Republican politics, thanks, in part, to his friendship with fellow legislator (and later president), William McKinley.

Benjamin W. Edwards (c. 1780–1837), American pioneer, early colony organizer in Texas
His health began to fail in 1891, and he died January 16, 1892, at age 55, in Rome, having travelled to Europe for a rest.
Lacy enlisted in the Confederate States Army on April 19, 1861, a week after the bombardment of Fort Sumter.

Benjamin Watkins Leigh was a founding member (1831) of the Virginia Historical Society and first chairman of its standing committee.
In the 1920s, Benjamin W. Sangor purchased the area, intending to create a resort town catering to wealthy urban vacationers.

The species was first described scientifically by Ross H. Arnett, Jr. in 1950, and is named after Mount Apo.
