The name reflects the supposed similarity of the shape of the island to a large Razorback.
They are individually called Inaccessible Island, Tent Island, Big Razorback Island, and Little Razorback Island.
It was discovered by the British National Antarctic Expedition under Robert Falcon Scott, 1901–04, and so named because of its size and similarity to nearby Big Razorback Island.
