The award was established by Professors Tony James FRS (Unilever Research) and Henry Arnstein (Biochemical Society).
Colworth House has also given its name to the Colworth Medal, established by the late Professor Tony James of Unilever Research and Professor Henry Arnstein of the Biochemical Society in 1963.
Cohen was an honorary member of the Chiba Medical Society of Japan, the Harvey Society, the Medical School Faculty of the University of Chile, the National Academy of Medicine of Mexico and the Japanese Biochemical Society.
