In 2003, Madiraju wrote "Biryani and Irani chai" a collection of nine short stories and "Cafe Confuxion", a story for an animation film.
Special dishes include biryani, qorma, kofta, seekh kabab, Nihari and Haleem, Nargisi Koftay, Kata-Kat, Rogani Naan, Naan, sheer-qurma (sweet), qourma, chai (sweet, milky tea), paan and Hyderabadi cuisine, and other delicacies associated with Muhajir culture.
The spices and condiments used in biryani may include but are not limited to: cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaves, coriander and mint leaves, apart from ghee, ginger, onions.
