In view of the pressure exerted by Brandenburg, the bishops in 1276 moved the episcopal seat to Göritz (Górzyca) east of the Oder.
The Bishopric of Lebus remained a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Gniezno until 1424, when it passed under the jurisdiction of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg.
The town was located on a merchant route from Sandomierz, through Ropczyce, towards the Kingdom of Hungary, and until late 14th century, it was property of the Bishopric of Lebus.
