A Home Too Far

It is based on a novel by Bo Yang, which is based on the true story of Republic of China Army's 93rd Division taking refuge in Santikhiri (Mae Salong) on northern border between Myanmar and Thailand.

Bo Yang

From 1969 Bo Yang was incarcerated as a political prisoner (for "being a Communist agent and attacking national leaders") on Green Island for nine years.

Dragon Eye Congee

Based on a short story of the same name written in the 1950s by the Taiwanese intellectual and democracy activist Bo Yang, Dragon Eye Congee tells the story of a second-generation Taiwanese American, Shaun Tam, who, since childhood, has repeatedly dreamt about the same woman in the same scenes, complete with a haunting melody and the fragrant smell of rice congee with dried longan.


Censorship in Taiwan

Writer Bo Yang was jailed for eight years for his translation of the cartoon Popeye because the translation was interpreted as a criticism of leader Chiang Kai-shek.
