It crosses the Slovak–Hungarian border at the village of Felsőberecki (near Sátoraljaújhely) in Hungary, and Streda nad Bodrogom in Slovakia, where it is also the lowest point in Slovakia (94.3 m AMSL), and continues its flow through the Hungarian county Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, until it meets the river Tisza in Tokaj.
The Hodoş-Bodrog Monastery is one of the oldest monastic institutions belonging to the Romanian Orthodox Church.
After returning to Canada, Bodrog did work for a variety of clients, including the Toronto International Film Festival, where he photographed numerous celebrities, including Sofia Coppola, David Lynch, David Mamet, Julianne Moore, Liv Tyler, Norman Jewison, Ralph Fiennes, Tori Amos, Brett Easton Ellis and Irvine Welsh among others.
The microclimate is determined by the sunny, south-facing slopes and the proximity of the Tisza and Bodrog rivers, and is conducive to the proliferation of Botrytis (noble rot) and the subsequent desiccation of the grapes.
