On 2 August 1980 at 10.25 am, an improvised explosive device (IED) made with 20 kilograms of a TNT mixture was detonated inside Bologna's main railway station.
5 km in length, it will link Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport to Bologna Centrale railway station, with an intermediate station and depot at Lazzaretto and an expected travel time of 7 minutes.
The station entered service on 21 July 1859, together with the rest of the Bologna–Piacenza section of the Milan–Bologna railway.
Trains depart frequently from Rovigo for Venezia and Bologna, and there are numerous regional trains (R) to every part of the Veneto/Lombardy/Emilia-Romagna area, especially during peak hours.
