Braves Field

The stadium was initially called Boston University Field and was later renamed Nickerson Field.

Significant portions of the original structure still stand in place, and make up part of the Nickerson Field sports complex.

After classes at Brookline’s Edward Devotion Grammar School, he would walk 10 minutes up to Braves Field, the home of the Boston Braves, for whom he served as bat boy during the 1922 season.

Suspended game

Another famous example would be the 26-inning, 1-1 tie game of May 1, 1920, between the Brooklyn Robins (a.k.a. Dodgers) and the Boston Braves at Braves Field.

Walter Brown Arena

The building lies in the general area of the left field pavilion seats at the former Braves Field, whose right field pavilion and a portion of the field have been converted to neighboring Nickerson Field.
