Michigan State's chances of completing the comeback appeared to be finished early in the fourth quarter when backup quarterback Brian Hoyer had his 6th pass of the drive intercepted by Northwestern a minute in.

Brian Hoyer

It was announced later in the week that Hoyer would be the Browns' starting quarterback for Week 4, as starting quarterback Brandon Weeden remained out with a thumb injury.

The next day on September 30, Hoyer was named the starter for a third straight game, Thursday Night Football vs the Buffalo Bills.

In a game against Illinois, he combined with Drew Stanton to throw seven touchdown passes, which tied the Big Ten single-game record.

Senio Kelemete

In his first NFL game against the San Francisco 49ers, Kelemente became the first offensive lineman in NFL history to make a reception in his debut when he caught a deflected Brian Hoyer pass intended for Andre Roberts for 10 yards.
