In 1875 the French-born engineer Louis Gustave Mouchel established himself in Briton Ferry and quickly became involved in a number of successful enterprises.
Born in Briton Ferry, Glamorgan, he left school aged thirteen when his father died.
Edward John Hutchins (27 December 1809, Briton Ferry, Glamorganshire – 11 February 1876, Hastings) was a Liberal MP, railway director and Freemason.
She served in this capacity until broken up for scrap at Briton Ferry in May 1953.

Near Briton Ferry, it crosses the A48 bridge and then follows the A483 road (Fabian Way) into Swansea and passes through the Maritime Quarter.
After the completion of the Briton Ferry to Swansea link on 14 December 1894 Treherbert was connected to Swansea docks.
