The model 1805 U.S. Martial "Harper's Ferry" flintlock pistol, manufactured at the Harpers Ferry Armory in Virginia (now West Virginia), was the first pistol manufactured by a national armory.
John E.P. Daingerfield served as a clerk at the Harpers Ferry Armory in 1859 during John Brown’s raid.
Starting in 1801, possibly as early as 1800, it was also produced in the then new Harpers Ferry Armory.

When Eli Whitney Blake took over management of the Harpers Ferry Armory in 1842, he set about tooling up under his new contract from the U.S. government for making the model 1841 percussion rifle.
