Brix is known primarily as being the assumed origin of the Bruce family, who emigrated to Britain in the Middle Ages, settling in northern England and then southern Scotland.

Clan Bruce

The surname Bruce comes from the French de Brus or de Bruis, derived from the lands now called Brix, situated between Cherbourg and Valognes in Normandy, France.


Joseph Le Brix

In the Breguet 19 G.R. Nungesser-Coli, Le Brix and the French aviator Dieudonné Costes made a round-the-world trip between October 1927 and April 1928, traveling 57,000 km (35,400 miles) with a total flying time of 350 hours, although they covered the segment between San Francisco, California, and Tokyo, Japan, aboard ship.

Morten Suurballe

Internationally best known as Detective Chief Inspector Lennart Brix in the three television series The Killing (Danish: Forbrydelsen, “The Crime”) in which he played alongside Sofie Gråbøl, playing the lead character Sarah Lund.
