3 unusual facts about CD16

Antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity

The most common Fc receptor on the surface of an NK cell is called CD16 or FcγRIII.

Natural killer T cell

Natural Killer T cells can share other features with NK cells as well, such as CD16 and CD56 expression and granzyme production.

Type II hypersensitivity

These tagged cells are then recognised by natural killer cells (NK) and macrophages (recognised via IgG bound (via the Fc region) to the effector cell surface receptor, CD16 (FcγRIII)), which in turn kill these tagged cells.
