Camp George Meade

Camp George G. Meade near Middletown, Pennsylvania was a camp established and subsequently abandoned by the U.S. Volunteers during the Spanish American War.

A Brigade of the First Division, Second Army Corps to Camp Marion, Summerville, South Carolina.

The site is bisected by the east-west Pennsylvania turnpike (76) east-west State Highway 283 and the north-south extension from State Highway 283 to the Harrisburg International Airport.

George Whitefield Davis

During the period of May 1898 until Mar 1899, he commanded the 2nd Division of the Second Corps of the US Army at Camp Alger Virginia, Thoroughfare Gap Virginia, Camp Meade Pennsylvania, and Camp Fornance South Carolina.


Camp Alger

Early in September the remainder of the corps was transferred to Camp Meade, near Middletown, Pennsylvania.
