A House Like a Lotus

Of the three major crossover characters between the O'Keefe family and Austin family series of books (the others being Canon Tallis and Adam Eddington), Zach is the only one who first appeared in the Austin books.

Canon Tallis

At the time of the book, Tallis is said to be "living quietly as a canon of St. Paul's."

Apparently English, Tallis nevertheless carries an American Phi Beta Kappa key, and wears a French Légion d'honneur ribbon.

Dragons in the Waters

Another passenger, Mr. Theo, calls for Poly's godfather, Canon Tallis, to come and investigate, but Tallis and Simon are both kidnapped by the local police chief upon arrival in Port of Dragons, Venezuela, and left stranded in the jungle.

Major characters in the book who appear in other works by L'Engle include Polly and Charles O'Keefe and their parents, Calvin O'Keefe and Meg Murry O'Keefe, Mr. Theotocopoulos, and Canon Tallis.

The Young Unicorns

Canon Tallis, newly arrived at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine after the events of The Arm of the Starfish, meets the Austin children and their friends just as they encounter an anachronistic Genie in a junk shop.
