He sailed from Kadesh in February 999 CE into the Atlantic, landed in Gando (Gran Canaria) visiting King Guanariga, and continued westward where he saw and named two islands, Capraria and Pluitana.
In 1993 he moved his "school in the art of living", now renamed Accademia Capraia, to a location near Seggiano/Grosseto, Italy (Lasocki 2001).
In the Middle Ages it was part of the curatoria (shire) of Trexenta within the Giudicato of Cagliari and, subsequently, was owned by the counts of Capraia (1258) and, from 1295, by the Giudicato of Arborea.
