After being transferred from FCI Dublin in California, as of July 2009 she was an inmate at FMC Carswell (Fort Worth, Texas) in the United States with an expected prison sentence expiry date of 7 July 2014.
McCann worked at the western office of Carswell Legal Publications in Calgary, Alberta where he was Production Editor of Criminal Reports (Third Series) and western Law Reports Coordinator.

In 2010 she teamed up with actors, Sorcha Fox, Jamie Carswell, writer/director Dónal O'Kelly and Kíla to work on a play called The Adventures of the Wet Senor.
In the first week of the new parliament, Carswell revealed he intended to force a referendum on the Treaty of Lisbon, when it became necessary to re-ratify it to resolve an oversight of apportionment in the European Parliament.

The son of Alan and Nance Carswell was educated at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution and Pembroke College, Oxford, where he received a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in classics and law in 1956.
