Casimir II the Just (1138–1194), Duke of Cracow and senior prince of Poland
The salary of Casimir II as Starost General (1,200 guilders a year), and the incomes derived from the towns near Kraków allowed him to buy the cities of Mistek and Friedland from the Bishop of Olomouc in 1527.

He was the eldest child and only son of Bolesław II, Duke of Cieszyn, by his wife Anna, daughter of Ivan Vladimirovich, Prince of Bielsk.
The decision of Canut that had to be accepted by Anastasia favoured the Rugian demands, only the trans-Peene terrae Wolgast, Lassan and Ziethen were put under Pomeranian control with the larger part of the disputed area, including the terrae Lositz (Loitz) and Wostrose (Wusterhusen), remaining within Rügen.

Saint Florian was adopted as patron saint of Poland in 1184, when Pope Lucius III consented to the request of King Casimir II to send relics of Florian to that country.
In 1474 was made the formal division of the Duchy of Zator in two parts: Wenceslaus II and Casimir II received the eastern part of the Skawa River.
