Like other orchids, the creeping lady's tresses live in symbiosis with a mycorrhiza, a rhizome-dwelling fungus (Ceratobasidium cornigerum or Rhizoctonia goodyearae-repentis).
Prasophyllum species grow in mycorrhizal associations with the fungus Ceratobasidium.
Ceratobasidium lantanae-camarae was described from Brazil as the causal agent of a web blight of the invasive shrub Lantana camara, suggesting it has potential as a biocontrol agent.
