Charles VIII of Sweden or Carl II, King of Sweden (and of Norway as Carl I) (1409–1470)
Charles VIII of Sweden, actually Charles II of Sweden, Charles I of Norway (1409–1470)
His first marriage, in 1428, to Birgitta Turesdotter (Bielke) (died 1436) gave him his daughter Kristina.

His father was said by contemporary legends to descend from a younger brother of King Eric IX (Saint Eric).
Descent from this house was regarded as such hard currency in medieval and early modern power games that some aspirants (most notably Charles VIII of Sweden) even fabricated a descent (see Tofta) to show that they too were heirs of the House of Erik.
However, her existence has been doubted by some modern Swedish historians that think she was just made up by Charles VIII or his chroniclers to provide him with a more impressive background.
