Well preserved chasmataspids were recovered from the early Devonian of October Revolution Island, part of the Severnaya Zemlya group in the Russian Arctic.

The latest chasmataspid to be recognised is Loganamaraspis dunlopi from a famous Silurian fossil locality near Lesmahagow in Scotland.
