Born Adelard Cunin to Marié Diana (née Gobeil) and Jules Adelard Cunin in St. Paul, Minnesota, his parents were of French and Catholic descent, his father coming from Alsace-Lorraine, and his mother from Chicoutimi, Quebec, Canada.
This is true except for the Chicoutimi area which has voted federalist with André Harvey running as a Progressive Conservative and winning in 1997, and running as a Liberal and winning in 2000.

Tarzan Tyler died, along with fellow wrestler Pierre 'Mad Dog' Lefebvre and referee Adrien Desbois, in Laurentides Wildlife Reserve upon returning from a wrestling event in Chicoutimi, Quebec on December 24, 1985, in a car crash.
