Currently he teaches at MIT and leads a team working on an online Citizen science project named EyeWire.

In 2012, a Citizen science project called EyeWire began attempting to crowdsource the mapping of the connectome through an interactive game.
The Cornell Lab issues two quarterly publications, Living Bird magazine and the BirdScope newsletter, and manages numerous citizen-science projects and websites, including the Webby Award-winning All About Birds.
