3 unusual facts about City Ground

City Ground

The stadium was a venue when England hosted Euro 96, and is only three hundred yards away from Meadow Lane, home of Forest's neighbouring club Notts County; the two grounds are the closest professional football stadiums in England and the second closest in the United Kingdom after the grounds of Dundee F.C. and Dundee United.

Leeds United L.F.C.

Carly Telford was named Player of the Match before a record crowd of 24,582 at the City Ground.

Nottingham derby

Games between the two clubs are often referred to as Trentside Derbies because of Meadow Lane and the City Ground's proximity to the River Trent.

1995–96 Nottingham Forest F.C. season

Forest lost 2-1, and any remaining hopes of a semi-final place were crushed in the second leg when the Bavarians thrashed Frank Clark's men 5-1 at the City Ground.

Darren Wassall

Despite his limited opportunities Wassall featured in two finals for Forest, winning a medal in the 1992 Zenith Data Systems 3–2 triumph over Southampton (having scored his one and only Forest goal in the semi-final second leg against Leicester City at the City Ground) and playing in the 1–0 defeat in the 1992 Football League Cup Final against Manchester United.
