Wide Awake Hearts and A Quiet Place were published in book form by Coach House Books in 2010 under the title Minor Complications: Two Plays.

It is known for publishing early works by writers such as Fred Wah, Daphne Marlatt, Margaret Atwood, Michael Ondaatje, Ann-Marie MacDonald, George Bowering, Nicole Brossard, Gwendolyn MacEwen, Christopher Dewdney, bpNichol and Anne Michaels, Darren O'Donnell, Sean Dixon, Greg MacArthur, Matthew Heiti and Amiel Gladstone.

The company was founded as Coach House Press in 1965 by artist Stan Bevington.


Darren Wershler

A former grave digger, he was the senior editor of Coach House Books between 1997 and 2002, where the works he edited included several highly acclaimed books of contemporary innovative poetry, including Fidget by Kenneth Goldsmith (2000), both volumes of Seven Pages Missing, the collected works of Steve McCaffery (2000, 2002), Lip Service by Bruce Andrews (2001), and Eunoia by Christian Bök (2001).
