Following his retirement from football, he has made a career in sports broadcasting and appears periodically on BBC Five Live's Fighting Talk, which he seldom wins; when asked by host Colin Murray when he last won an episode of FT, O'Reilly replied "God was ten".

More recently, Parfitt has been instrumental in changes to the Radio 1 daytime output including the appointment of Chris Moyles as the Radio 1 Breakfast Show host in January 2004, as well as the 2006 reshuffle which saw Colin Murray move to 10pm.
Colin Murray served as a temporary replacement for six months until Zane Lowe's contract with the London station XFM ended in June 2003, where he took up a permanent position.
