Bancroft is a haven for birds and one of the best places to see a Common Kingfisher.

This species is sometimes called the Small Blue Kingfisher but in Indonesia and parts of Asia that name refers to Alcedo atthis (Common Kingfisher).
Three species reach Australia, but only the Common Kingfisher is found across most of Europe and temperate Asia.
Summer passage birds of the Suncheon Bay area include Nycticorax nycticorax, Bubulcus ibis, Egretta garzetta, Egretta alba modesta, Ardea cinerea, Charadrius dubius curonicus, Alcedo atthis bengalensis, Motacilla cinerea robusta, Motacilla alba and Acrocephalus arundinaceus.
The sexes may be identical, as with Bismarck Kingfisher, but most species show some sexual dimorphism, ranging from a different bill colour as with Common Kingfisher to a completely different appearance.
